Dwarf variety. Clump-forming perennial so named because its flower buds puff up like balloons before opening.
The root of balloon flower is used extensively in Asia as an anti-inflammatory in the treatment of coughs and
colds.  It is used in latent remedies and sold as platycodi commemorating it.
