Ironweed has excellent posture and never slouches in the garden. A
favorite for adding late season color to the landscape, Vernonia

The root is taken in the form of a powder

chills and fevers, scrofula, diseases of the skin, syphilis. A
decoction of the leaves is used as a gargle for sore throat.
